Mrs. McKinney was born and raised right here in Las Vegas. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Biotechnology. She worked for several years at the Nevada Cancer Institute in Dr. Sheri Holmen's lab as a Research Assistant and Lab Manager. In that lab, she studied the cellular mechanisms of melanoma and brain cancer, and possible methods to cure them. Mrs. McKinney has also taught biology for several years at the College of Southern Nevada before transitioning to the Clark County School District. She's very excited to teach the next generation about Biotechnology and introduce some hands-on lab experience!
