WCTA Biotechnology
Student Testimonies

Biotechnology introduces students to the "smaller aspects of biology." Areas of exploration include applied biomedical engineering, molecular biology, pathogen defense, infectious diseases, genetic diseases and preventing, detecting, and treating cancer. Topics of investigation will include biomedical problems, community health, and the roles and responsibilities of various biomedical professions. Students will gain an understanding of the role of genes, chromosomes, and inheritance, the principles of histology, and DNA biotechnology. The appropriate use of technology and industry-standard equipment is an integral part of this course.

Mrs. McKinney is one of the most involved and most engaging instructors I have ever had the opportunity to work with. Not only is she very proficient in her work and studies with biotechnology, but she also  takes the time to help each individual student understand all the concepts that are taught.

                         -Tatiana Lim, 12th grade

Mrs. McKinney is an extraordinary teacher. She is dedicated, educated, and passionate about teaching biotechnology to her students. Regardless of the topic, she is capable of answering various questions of science and life.

                        -Raymond Guan, 12th grade

Mrs. McKinney is unlike any other teacher I have ever had. Regardless of what she is doing at a particular moment, Mckin will always stop to help you or answer any questions you have, no matter how ridiculous they are. She encourages her students to embrace their academic potential inside and outside of the lab.

                        -Ashley Hart, 12 grade
